OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS
Online
- Current students in Yale College and the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and those professional schools listed below order transcripts in Yale Hub.
- Click “Academics” and select “Transcript Orders”.
- Note: Legal names are listed on student transcripts. See information regarding transcripts here.
Payment
Online transcript orders require payment by credit or debit card. The charge is $8 per transcript. Mail and express delivery options are available for an additional fee (see our transcript request FAQ). Requests for more than two notarized transcripts per week will also incur an additional surcharge of $5 per transcript. Payment for the full amount of a transcript order must be received before the order can be processed.
UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
If you need an unofficial transcript, go to Yale Hub; choose “Academics” then select “Unofficial Transcript-Undergrad”. This is the most comparable document Yale has to an unofficial transcript.
ENROLLMENT VERIFICATION
The Office of the University Registrar has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) to provide certificates of enrollment for students in Yale College and in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Students are able to obtain a document confirming enrollment instantly by visiting the National Student Clearinghouse’s MyHub site. Enrollment certificates (verifications) from the NSC display the Yale watermark.
To access your enrollment certificate, click the “Download Certificates” button, found at the top of the landing page after you log into the NSC MyHub.
Yale College and GSAS students who have registered for the fall term are able to obtain enrollment certificates from the National Student Clearinghouse after the third week in September. Because the first of-term enrollment file for the fall term is sent to the NSC during the third week of September, changes in enrollment status do not appear on enrollment certificates issued by the NSC until then. Incoming first year students need to wait until after the third week in September to order enrollment verifications and should use their admissions letter until then.
Questions regarding verification services can be directed to registrar@yale.edu.
DEGREE VERIFICATION
If a degree verification is needed, request an official transcript. Information on how to submit a transcript request can be found on our Transcripts page.
Organizations and third-party requestors performing background checks or verifying degrees must submit their request online through the National Student Clearinghouse.
Questions regarding verification services can be directed to registrar@yale.edu.
Please see the Yale Office of Career Strategy website for more information on Requesting Letter of Evaluation / Recommendation.
Consider using an online credential service, which allows you to store and manage a confidential portfolio of important documents such as letters of recommendation, your resume or CV, and writing samples. At your request, the credential service will forward documents to graduate schools or employers as required by your job application. Check out the following options:
- Dossier: A free document collection service offered by Interfolio. The set-up of the account and collection of materials is free. Once you are ready to apply, there is a $48/year subscription to send up to 50 applications per year (Dossier Deliver).
- PrivateFolio is a dossier collection service. By clicking the link to their site from this page, Yale students will receive a free one-year account (or a $10 discount on longer account options) when they register.
Note: Students and alums are responsible for the purchase and management of their dossier accounts. Current Yale College students, for which a dossier service fee may provide a financial hardship, may submit a funding request through SafetyNet.
Other References
Not all references are “official.” Potential new employers will often do their own research, which may include checking your Linkedin Profile, including the recommendations section, your Facebook page (make sure it’s “cleaned up”), and reaching out to contacts who may know your previous employer.
